One last time...

We went on one final camping trip of the year last weekend. We went up to Memorial Park with both my family, Brian's family, and Dax, Kami, and Mitzi joined us for the day.

We had the best time. It was so relaxing and our kids were great. Dallin had such a good time playing with the boys and Navie. They spent all day playing with scraps of wood building a road, doing iron beads, and running wild.

We had a horse shoe tournament, Brian and Mitzi were the winners. It was so much fun to just relax and spend time with each other. It rained a little on Saturday especially toward the evening, which kind of ruined the pot luck dinner, but it was still fun. We still got to visit, just in cramped quarters.

I had my camera, but was lazy and didn't take a single picture. Pretty pathetic, I know. I am just glad that we got to spend one last weekend outside with the people we love.

Melt my heart...

This morning Dallin was giving me some hugs and kisses, and he said "I love you mom." And I said "you do?" And then Dallin said, "Yeah mom, I love you forever!" I just love these moments where I feel so special and so proud to be his mommy. What a sweetheart.

Salsa Fiesta!

I should actually refer to it as "Slave Labor!" Every year my mom gets us all together to can salsa. If you have ever had my mom's salsa it is delicious, but it is also a lot of work! This year was no different, except that LUCKILY I had to work and only had to do half the labor. Sorry sisters... I missed out on all the cutting, chopping, and best of all peeling of the tomatoes. I was there for all the cooking and bottling, and processing though.

This year we canned 250 pints. Just to give you an idea of what that looks like, here is the picture of most of them all lined up. From start to finish it was a 14 hour day!

I am glad that it is over and we get to enjoy the product of our labor for the next year. I am just happy that this is the only canning experience my mother chooses to undertake. I love you mom!

Riding Bikes

We have loved the weather lately! It is finally cool enough to spend more than 5 minutes outside. Almost every night this last week, Dallin has been outside riding his bike. He absolutely loves it, he could ride it for hours. We have been taking some short walks around the neighborhood with Dallin biking and Tayah in the wagon. She has had so much fun too. I love that he is an outdoor boy, I hope that he stays that way!

Preschool is finally here!

Today Dallin went to his first day of preschool. I had to work and was so sad that I had to miss this super important day of my little boy's life, so Brian took off work to take him to school. Last night we talked it up a lot and he had a hard time going to sleep, I could tell he was nervous. I called him just before they left and he was so excited! When Brian took him in, they found his chair and Brian gave him a kiss, and Dallin said "Bye, Dad." Just like that, no drama here. He did so good! I couldn't believe it.

Dallin is finding his seat. They chose pencil boxes at Back to school night and their names were on them. So he is looking for his. Yeah, he chose pink... but whatever.

This is his seat!

When we asked Dallin what he did at his first day, this is what he said...
  • Counted to the big kid numbers (I guess that means they counted high)
  • Played Criss-Cross Applesauce (A name game of some sort ??)
  • Made cupcakes, but not real ones. Just colored them.
  • He said that he sits across from Jaiger, but not the Jaiger at the softball games, a different one.
  • Played with the tools and fixed stuff (I assume these are toys)
  • And then he said, I didn't cry, I just had fun.

We are so proud of him and can't believe he is so big.
