In Your Twilight, Will you Know?

I spent this week at a conference in Orlando for school. Some of it was great, and some was not so great. But, there was one speaker that made some amazing points.

He started out by talking about technology and how right now there is a gadget called Emotiv, being made that you will put on your head, it has multiple sensors in it. It will ask you to pull certain facial expressions and do some simple activities. When it is done, you will sit down and play a video game by thought alone! Crazy huh. But he also said, what good is all of our technology going to be if we lose the ability to communicate with each other face to face? I see this in my students, they can tell you anything in a text, but when it comes to speaking to you, they can't seem to get their points across. I believe it is mainly because of fear and insecurity.

He then spoke about how by being so lazy, we are losing our brain power as well. He talked about how exercising our brains can save us from Dementia and Alzheimer's. We need to be practicing skills like puzzles and things as well as frequently using our memory. We need to look back on our lives often so that those things don't fade away. He gave this analogy, he said... When you are in your twilight, and your great grandchild comes up to you and says, tell me your life story. I want to know about you, will you know?

I hope I know... because that is how our lives are passed on. Not through all the gizmos and gadgets this world has to offer.

Oh, Dallin!

So I know that all kids say funny things all the time, but lately Dallin has had some super funny ones. So I thought that I would share.

1. We were on the way to Lagoon and stopped to get some fries on the way. I asked Dallin, "Do you want some fries?" And he said... "Sure, I'll have some of that action!" Brian and I laughed so hard.

2. On Father's day we were at Brian's parents and Dallin was chasing a bird in the backyard. It flew over by the fence right by the rose bush and he started to go over to it. Grandma Ruth said, "be careful Dallin, that has stickers." He must have thought she said "Stinkers" because he turned around and said, "Why, are there skunks in there?" It was so funny.

Sometimes he is so hilarious and doesn't even know it! What a crack up.

Growing Up and Growing Old Segment: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

We have been married for 6 years today! I can't believe time has gone so fast and so many things have changed. We have lived in three houses, add two kids to the mix, changed jobs, and grown a lot but still love each other so much. I am so thankful that I married Brian, he is one of the kindest people I know. Here are some things I love about him...
  • He is always willing to go out of his way to help someone and offers help all the time!
  • He is a great dad and is so fun with our kids. That is something I noticed in him while we were dating and knew that he would be a wonderful father.
  • He is so handy around the house and keeps our home and yard looking so nice.
  • He is so funny too, sometimes I can't believe how dorky his jokes are, but he makes me laugh and that is important.
  • He is great with money. I call him the "Money Nazi" sometimes because he is so tight, but that is good, because I am not like that.
  • He has a genuine care for others and worries about how people are feeling and doing.

I love you babe! I am so grateful for all you do for me, happy anniversary!

P.S. This is the oldest picture of us together that I had on my computer.
